Standardized CPUE of Neon flying squid (Ommastrephes bartramii) caught by Chinese Taipei’s squid jigging fishery from 2016 to 2025

Catch and effort data for the neon flying squid (Ommastrephes bartramii) from the Chinese Taipei’s squid-jigging fishery in the Northwest Pacific were collected from 2016 to 2025. The fishery was temporarily halted in 2010 and between 2012 and 2015. Catch per unit effort (CPUE) of neon flying squid was standardized using a generalized linear model (GLM) incorporating temporal, spatial, environmental, and vessel-related factors. All main explanatory variables were included in the final models and were statistically significant. The standardized CPUE decreased from 2016 to 2018, remained stable between 2019 and 2022, and gradually declined from 2023 to 2025.
