Small Scientific Committees
There are two Small Scientific Committees which address the priority research areas outlined in the Research Plan:
- Small Scientific Committee on Bottom Fish and Marine Ecosystems (SSC BF-ME), and
- Small Scientific Committee on Pacific Saury (SSC PS).
Small Scientific Committee on Bottom Fish and Marine Ecosystems
The Small Scientific Committee on Bottom Fish and Marine Ecosystems was formed in 2019 to assess the status of bottom fish stocks and provide scientific advice for the sustainable management of bottom fisheries resources and prevention of significant adverse impacts on vulnerable marine ecosystems. It amalgamated SSC on Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems and SSC on Bottom Fish.

Small Scientific Committee on Pacific Saury
The Small Scientific Committee on Pacific Saury was established in 2015 to assess the status of Pacific saury, which is one of the priority species for the Scientific Committee, and propose recommendations for the management of Pacific saury fisheries in the Convention Area.
