Preliminary report on simulation experiment framework to evaluate fishery-independent survey designs of Pacific saury

A simulation experiment framework was conducted to evaluate whether we can reduce sampling effort in fishery-independent surveys for Pacific saury with sustaining high reliability in biomass estimates. We compared performance in biomass estimation among multiple survey designs where fewer sampling stations were allocated. It was suggested that reduction of sampling stations in a north-south direction was effective for sustaining high performance in biomass estimation.
