Secretariat Report to COM09

Abstract
This paper summarizes the activities of the NPFC since COM-08 (April 2024) to February 2025.

Introduction
In accordance with Rule 6 of the Rules of Procedure, this report highlights the Commission’s intersessional activities and work programs carried out during the 2024/2025 period. Significant aspects included the implementation of harvest control rule for Pacific saury, finalizing a chub mackerel stock assessment and reporting of catch, discussions to advance the provision of science advice on all key stocks (to be considered at COM09), a full year of implementing the new reporting provisions from the transshipment Conservation and Management Measure (CMM) 2024-03, extensive analysis of compliance data (e.g., VMS and transshipment reports), standardization of Secretariat assessment reports (fisheries overview, transshipment, high seas boarding and inspection and, vessel monitoring scheme), implementation of the new compliance monitoring scheme (CMM 2024-13), and implementation of new accounting software for 2024/2025.
