New NPFC database for scientific data

The North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC) has continued to enhance its data management system by developing a database for scientific data shared by NPFC Members for stock assessments. The database was funded by the European Union and developed by the Small Working Group on Data (SWG Data), led by Ms. Karolina Molla Gazi.

On 2 April 2026, the SWG Data held a workshop to introduce Members to the structure and functionality of the new NPFC database, demonstrate the data submission workflow, and provide an opportunity for Members to test the system by uploading their datasets.

A second workshop is scheduled for 23 June to address feedback from database users and follow up on further developments. The database is planned to be launched in 2027.
