Yearbook 2017

The North Pacific Fisheries Commission has released the online addition of the second NPFC Yearbook covering the Commission's major activities in 2017.

This Yearbook, as Chairman Kenji Kagawa states in the Foreword to the volume, addresses "various issues faced by the Commission, the main one being the sustainable management of the fishery resources and the protection of the ecosystems in which these resources occur".

Vanuatu becomes a member

The Republic of Vanuatu became a full member of the NPFC on 11 June 2017.

The Republic of Korea, the Depositary of the Convention, notified the NPFC Secretariat that Vanuatu had deposited its instrument of ratification of the NPFC Convention on 12 May 2017 and consequently the Convention would become effective for Vanuatu as of 11 June 2017 in accordance with the Paragraph 3 of Article 25 of the Convention.
